Australia Day is kind of like New Years Eve gone wrong. Fireworks, lots of people, Australian flag capes, guys with tops off, board shorts, underage drinkers and heaps of cops, sure some of it is over spill from the tennis, but it's pretty ugly out on the street. We started out inside with Favela Rock on Saturday, another one of those long, hot nights. Fun though, as always. Will be the last one for a while we miss out on 2 of them while we're on holiday.

Legs! Legs! Legs!
Jules - always looking good in HM
...Followed up on Sunday with Mexi and Nathan at Section 8 (Every Sunday from 3pm, make it next week)! Cheers to Jacob for introducing me to Liqueur De Violette. Let's make it a Hayley Mei special - it's my new drink. Please don't go down there and drink it all!
I saw Mark Bell using this at the Bjork gig. At first I thought that it was some kind of visual thing. But no, it gives new meaning to being able to see the music. Kraftwerk would pee their pants, all they had was a pocket calculator. Check out the Reactable:
I was lucky enough to get 2 of the 5000 tickets to see Bjork at the Opera House. Those of you that know me are well aware that I love this woman! I have to say without doubt that it was the most incredible show that I've ever seen.
Didn't get any flicks as a request from the lady herself - if you're busy taking photos/video, you're not in the moment, right? Besides, they just wouldn't be able to do it justice. But if you're desperate, Flickr it.
You can't imagine anything more amazing than sitting by the water on the steps of the forecourt with the Opera House behind you, full moon blazing and the backdrop to the stage being Sydney city with the Harbour Bridge on the right...
Stumbled across these guys too. I'm sure it's not news to everyone else (I don't really listen to the radio and don't really have the tolerance to watch music TV). There was a collective groan when these two walked out on to the stage to open the show. Keyboard guitars don't usually mean you're in for a good show. Turns out that they were awesome. The grin on the singers face throughout the entire set was priceless.
Not usually in to this stuff, but the live show did it for me. Check out Shy Child
Catch them at the Big Day Out. Their sideshows were cancelled. Boo!
Some very lucky people got together this week - in a bit of a rock star kind of way, to spend a lot of dollars on shoes. A store open after hours just for us, with a few quality drinks to seal the deal. All thanks to the mighty Sanch. Now everyone, buy that man a bagel!
I just wanted to say a gigantic 'thank you' to the girl who gave me lunch on the house today. I'm not sure why she did, but hopefully she knows that she completely made my day.
I had the worst day of the entire year on NYE. Wearing jeans in 42 degree heat, No food, 4 hours worth of waiting for trains and forgetting my house keys were some of the lowlights. By the time I hit the city and copped abuse from 2 random passers by, I'd pretty much had enough. Needless to say, I retaliated.
Though the daytime was bad, drinks and Favela with good company was the best remedy:
2007 was a good one, 2008 will be even better. A massive thanks goes out to all of the crew that have supported Hayley Mei over the last year, being surrounded with such good people has been incredible. Kisses to all of you.
We'll be delivering some seriously hot shit this year, hold on to your panties! Hope you all dig it just as much.
